Trans-Tasman 2006

Congratulations to Shane Murray (U12) for his selection into the Trans Tasman Team! Shane won Silver in High Jump with a PB of 1.53 m.

The Trans Tasman is for athletes in the U11 and U12 age groups, from both NSW and Auckland. Every second year, a team of boys and girls from NSW travel to Auckland for the Trans Tasman Tour.  On alternate years, a team from Auckland travel to Sydney.

With the Trans Tasman Tour, children can take part in several athletic competitions, culminating in the Trans Tasman Challenge. The events offered are 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus.

State Relays 2006

21 athletes represented Helensburgh LA in the State Relays at Homebush on the 25th/26th of November.

For the first time ever, two of the 6 relay teams - the U8 Mixed 4x100m and the Junior Boys 4x800m - became State Relays Gold Medallists!

The U8 Mixed team was represented by Jake Trew, Jane Vodiciar, Timothy Burgmann, and Annabell Scullion,

while the Junior Boys team was made up of Harry Callaghan, Samual McNaughton, Brendan Curtis, and Conner Mackne, who are also the State Record Holders!

Two more teams - the U11 Mixed 4x100m Michaela Golds, Ashleigh Larkin, (Jesse Cobb, Jaimie Wigley) and the U10 Mixed 4x400m (Tori Trigg, Mikayla Callaghan, Reagan McPherson, Conner Macknee) - reached the finals and placed in the top 8 in the state.

Other competitors were: Olivia Salmon, Jamie Cottrell-Dor, Alexia Zantidies, Brooke Mason, Micheala Crane, and Madeline Scullion.

Congratulations to all competitors and a big thank you to our club coaches and supportive parents, you made Helensburgh LA very proud!!
